The 2015 Spätlese from the Juffer-Sonnenuhr vineyard is outstanding this year. The bouquet is pure and nascently complex, offering up a lovely constellation of pear, white cherry, a fine base of slate minerality, bee pollen, a touch of wild yeasts and a topnote of iris blossoms. On the palate the wine is medium-full, refined and marvelously transparent, with fine filigree and core. The finish is long, pure and electric, with a taught interplay of fruit, minerality and snappy acidity. Just a stunning young Spätlese! 2020-2050.

The 2015 (Brauneberger) Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is clear and perfectly ripe on the nose, with super ripe Riesling flavors intermixed with delicate flint aromas. Full-bodied, piquant and lush on the palate, with a very good concentration, the JSU is quite racy and still somewhat reductive on the palate; it finishes with a nicely piquant purity and stimulating salinity. Just give it another 5-10 years of time. - Stephan Reinhardt
