From the same vines planted in 1905, the 2015 Orion is a bigger, richer wine compared to the 2014 yet offers similarly awesome notes of black and blue fruits, scorched earth, bay leaf, ground pepper, lavender, and violets. Showing hints of chocolate and mint with time in the glass, this medium to full-bodied, multi-dimensional effort has no hard edges, incredible depth and intensity, and is just a brilliant, brilliant wine that needs to be tasted to be believed. It needs a decant if drinking any time soon yet will cruise for two decades in cool cellars. This is magical stuff.

This rare field blend comes from the 100+ year vines ‘Rossi Vineyard’ in Saint Helena. Opaque in color with floral dark red fruits, white pepper and forest floor on the nose. The palate is medium to full bodied and interwoven with mint, plum and black raspberries. Given the structure of the wine it finishes with fine tannins and incredible length. This needs a decanter and at least 5 years in the cellar but will mature for years to come.
