This is another plump and intense expression from the folks at Bibbiano. The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Capannino is a bold and contemporary wine with dried blackberry and ripe cherry aromas that are followed closely by spice, tar, leather and moist chewing tobacco. The wine offers sweet softness, especially when it comes to the quality of the tannins, with lasting fruit flavors. This wine should continue its evolution over the next 10 years. - ML

Sloping to the southwest, Vigna del Capannino sits on calcareous clay soil stratified with alberese. It totals 7ha and is planted with a massal selection of Sangiovese clones from Montalcino. While it is already showing some evolution with a slightly garnet hue, the heady floral and earthy scents are very appealing. On the palate dried cherry, coffee and a touch of wood show through, accompanied by finessed structure and bright acidity. Delicious stuff.
