I tasted this excellent wine from barrel just before bottling. The 2015 Biserno will be released in September, and some 25,000 bottles were made. This edition offers a profoundly exuberant drinking experience that hits the senses with explosive intensity. The quality of the primary fruit is impeccable with Morello cherry, blackberry and dark prune. Savory spice and tobacco frames that fruit with precision and focus. This full-bodied red offers tightly knit texture and firm tannins. The 2015 vintage represents the culmination of a stylistic evolution and years of winemaking experience on behalf of the entire team at Tenuta di Biserno. There is no doubt in my mind that this is best edition of Biserno produced thus far. - Monica Larner

In terms of power and freshness, this lies somewhere between the Lodovico and the Il Pino this vintage, offering lots of beautiful, pure, blackcurrants on the nose, which are bolstered by tile, iodine and crushed stones. The palate shows impeccable finesse and polish, due partly to the tannin quality, but also to the ever-present freshness that gives this spine and willpower. Blend of cabernet franc, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. Drink in 2024.

This is polished and nuanced, offering plum, blackberry, leather and Mediterranean scrub flavors, backed by stiff tannins. Features lively acidity, and just as the tannins gain the upper hand, the sweet fruit returns. Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2020 through 2033. — B.S.
