Breathtaking aromas of perfectly ripe fruit with blackberries, black olives, licorice, cedar and sweet tobacco. Full body, incredible depth and power, yet this is always in reserve and check. Everything is in the right...

There are many things I love about wine tasting. One of the great pleasures is tasting wine in barrel and scoring it higher in bottle, which is a true sign of quality. That is what took place here clearly. This wine is...

janeanson.com, June 2022

Tannins have closed in around the fruit at this moment, showing just what a powerful vintage the 2015 is. Sensational stuff, hiding depths of flavour that will slowly but surely unfurl over the next decade. Black cherry...

The Wine Independent, November 2022

(98 + points) The 2015 Trotanoy is medium to deep garnet colored. It sings with gorgeous scents of black cherry preserves, blackberry pie, and juicy blueberries, plus wafts of tobacco leaf, licorice, and mossy tree bark...

Decanter, June 2019

Another great vintage in this exceptional line-up. This is extremely young, exhibiting a slightly square muscular structure at this point. It’s very tight right now and needs at least another five years before widening...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2018

Composed of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Trotanoy reveals a medium to deep garnet-purple color and comes prancing out of the glass with the most striking black fruit preserves, plum pudding, red currant...

Wine Enthusiast, April 2018

This wine is rich with tannins and superb fruit. The blackberries and black plums are succulent and chewy, giving the wine an opulent, ripe character. This 18-acre vineyard, with 93% Merlot, has produced an impressive...

Wine Spectator, March 2018

This is laden with fig bread, ganache, smoldering tobacco, warm currant confiture and fig paste aromas and flavors that rumble through a charcoal-tinged finish. Dense, but the grip is thoroughly melded with the fruit...

jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

Pomerol’s famous Trotanoy, whose soil was too hard to work and thus called “trop anoi” (too annoying) in medieval French, is located on one of the most beautiful parts of the Pomerol plateau. The fascinating soil diversity—half gravel mixed with clay and half deep black clay —with the presence of “machefer” or iron pan in the subsoil, brings power, depth and complexity to the wine.

Chateau Trotanoy’s vineyard was one of the few not to freeze in 1956 and today, it is comprised of very old vines, the average being close to 35 years. 90% of the vines are Merlot, the rest Cabernet Franc.

Trotanoy was acquired by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix, who own many other properties in both Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, including Magdelaine, Belair-Monange, La Fleur-Petrus, Lafleur-Gazin, Lagrange, Latour a Pomerol, and Hosanna.

Trotanoy is vinified in small concrete vats and the young wine matures in 50% new oak barrels for about 18 months. When ready, this wine shows enormous complexity and concentration. It can easily be kept 25 years or more in great vintages.
