It opens deep, clear and flinty on the nose, with a very pure yet deep, intense and very precise Riesling aroma intermixed with stony flavors. On the palate, this is a rich, finesse-full and highly elegant Riesling with great complexity and tension. The finish is very long and intense, and the aging potential should be terrific. - Stephan Reinhardt

Tim Fröhlich noted that the family now owns 3.5 hectares of vines here, as they purchased a neighbor’s winery in 2013 that included a section of very old vines in what he calls “the filet section of the vineyard.” Currently, only 1.5 hectares is used for the Grosses Gewächs bottling, but Tim noted that he had just finished replanting a section that has absolutely great terroir “and this parcel will be the Grand Cru for my son” in the years to come. The 2015 Stromberg is outstanding and nicely reserved in profile out of the blocks, wafting from the glass in a youthful blend of tart orange, lemongrass, grapefruit, a lovely base of minerality, lemongrass, a nice dollop of wild flowers and wild yeasts. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bdoied and again, like all of these 2015 GGs, very, very precise, with a fine core, seamless acids and outstanding focus and balance on the very long and very classy finish. Another stellar wine. (Drink between 2022-2060)
