There is excellent volume, power and richness to the dense, serious and sappy flavors that also deliver fine length though not quite the same depth as the best in the range on the slightly warm finale. Ripe red-berry flavors are still developing in this rich wine. Its structure shows the generous Volnay character, with integrated tannins and swathes of ripe fruit. Drink from 2022. - ROGER VOSS

The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, gorgeous crunchy tannins and an almost Pommard-like reserve towards the finish. Good potential here, clearly a well-crafted wine. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting in Burgundy. -- Neal Martin

Quite lean but also pleasingly long, with some fresh acidity behind...   Pure mid purple. The bouquet is really engaging, Volnay flirts with the Côte de Nuits. Balanced, concentrated, elegant.
