(91-93) This too is abundantly oaked and it's enough to overshadow the very earthy and spicy dark berry fruit aromas. More positively, the sleek, round and delicious medium weight plus flavors possess an unusually polished mouth feel and even the supporting tannins are finer than usual as there is only a trace of backend rusticity. Again, my rating offers the benefit of the doubt that the wood will be eventually absorbed.

(90-92) Dark red-ruby. Precise aromas of black cherry, licorice and minerals are lifted by a violet note. Juicy, penetrating but youthfully imploded flavors of black fruits, minerals and mint show less early density and sweetness than the Corton. But this is a more airy, feminine style from old massale vines. And not quite classic, as some interplanted Pinot Gris vines give this wine an aromatic quality. Finishes juicy and lightly saline, with slightly drying tannins. This wine will need time in bottle.
