A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) with Merlot (14%) and Cabernet Franc (1%), Chateau Montelena Cabernet is aged in French and Eastern European oak barrels for 14 months. 16% of the barrels are new.

The wines aim to express the fruit from which they are made and the vintage in which they are grown, with all other elements in balance to complement the fruit. To achieve this goal, Chateau Montelena uses modern crushing, de-stemming and pressing equipment to process the grapes as gently as possible. Temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks allow the wines to ferment slowly and evenly.
