(95 points) Named after the mother of owner Tom Gerrie, the Eileen vineyard comprising 6.67ha has a higher elevation at up to 230 metres in the Eola-Amity Hills. It shows good freshness and lots of cool fruit-focussed clarity. It's deliciously delicate, with persistent raspberry fruit, spice and sweetness that dominates the luminous palate, but there’s no lack of structure here with good flesh and firmness to the tannin profile. This is still very primary and will age well.

(95 points) Very alluring, spice-laced, ripe red and black cherries, making a complex statement on the nose. The succulent and focused palate has a very considered feel with impressive balance and a long and focused, cherry core that delivers detailed textural allure. Drink or hold.

(94 points) The darkest, most muscular of the winery's 2016 Pinots, this is loaded with ripe black cherry fruit, wreathed in a whiff of smoke. There's a streak of cola and some lightly dusty tannins, and the length and texture argue for cellaring. Drink now–2030 and beyond.

92+ Pale to medium ruby with a hint of purple, the 2016 Pinot Noir Eileen Vineyard has a bright, lively nose of red cherry and licorice with accents of charcuterie, dried leaves, fir, cola and dusty soil. Light to medium-bodied, it offers layers of black and red cherry and berry flavors in the mouth with a soft frame of baking spice and earthy notes. It's held together with firm, slightly fuzzy tannins and great juicy acidity, finishing long with sweet, ripe red fruits. - Erin Brooks
