(91 - 93) The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux has yet another very pretty and seductive bouquet with perfumed red cherries, strawberry and wet limestone scents that gently unfurl in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and well-judged acidity. I appreciate the transparency of this Gevrey, a touch of spice and minerals on the tip of the tongue, but there is commendable weight and structure toward the finish. This is a great Les Corbeaux from Cavelier and it delivers impressive sophistication and poise.- NM

(90-92) A pretty and notably floral nose evidences plenty of earth and game character on the red currant and lavender aromas. The rich, powerful and impressively intense full-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration before concluding in a succulent yet quite serious finish that is presently youthfully austere. This will need at least a few years of bottle age for it to unwind as it's presently pretty tightly coiled.

Exotic notes of boysenberry, blackberry and Asian spice mark this supple, fluid red. Broad and lush, with plenty of tannins underneath. Finishes with lively acidity and a hint of orange. Best from 2022 through 2042. 10 cases imported. — BS
