The wine delivers an esthery and quite complex bouquet of pear, apple, bee pollen, chalky soil tones, vanillin oak, citrus zest and a nice touch of salinity. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, ripe and nicely racy, with a fine core of fruit, lovely cut and grip and a long, complex and very nicely balanced finish. This is fourteen percent octane and carries its ripeness very elegantly and will age beautifully- if one can keep one’s hands off of the wine in the cellar!

Vibrant, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruit aromas, along with hints of jasmine and chamomile. Juicy and tightly focused on the palate, offering lively Meyer lemon, pear and white peach flavors that slowly unfurl through the midpalate. Shows fine definition and mineral cut on the long, focused finish, which leaves bitter pear skin and citrus pith notes behind. -- Josh Raynolds

Slight smoky aromas envelope hazelnut and ripe stone fruit while a scented, floral overtone sets an unusual accent. The palate shows richness and freshness in equal measure and the restrained use of oak (about 10% new) allows the generous fruit to shine. There is warmth but the freshness, preserved by partial fermentation in stainless steel, gives the richness good definition.

Oak aging has lent a rather dominant bourbon barrel scent, which comes across on the palate as liquorous. It finishes on a gentle, buttery note. PAUL GREGUTT
