(90-93) Reduction. There is good muscle to the intense bigger-bodied flavors that still manage to retain a relatively refined mouthfeel while tightening up on the focused and impressively complex finish that delivers sneaky good length. While this is certainly firm it should drink reasonably well young if that's your preference.

(90 - 92) The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots has another very elegant and poised bouquet: blackberry, raspberry and a subtle marine influence that becomes more prominent with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannin, firm and more masculine, needing more flesh and harmony to come through on the finish. Not bad, but I wager that this is not one of the domaine’s best in 2016.- NM

The Boudots is very promising in 2016, opening in the glass with a brooding bouquet of black cherry, plums, wood smoke, grilled meat, spice and raw cocoa. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and deep, structured around a fine but firm chassis of rich tannins. As this puts on some mid-palate depth during élevage, it should become exceptional.
