From a vineyard that was formerly owned by Vincent Girardin and that Jean-Claude Ramonet has in fermage, the 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret Monopole displays an old-fashioned bouquet of musky peach, tangerine and honeycomb. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and ample, with a rich, layered mid-palate that's structured around vibrant acids. The extremes of the vintage make their mark but it's a superb wine in it somewhat idiosyncratic style.- WK
