The Domaine Fèvre Montée de Tonnerre is absolutely stunning in 2016. The bouquet is pure, complex and very vibrant, soaring from the glass in a blaze of pear, green apple, a touch of anise, crystalline limestone minerality, citrus blossoms and a touch of flintiness in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, full, long and focused, with a rock solid core, excellent cut and grip and a very long, complex and energetic finish. Bottled in October. Great juice.

(90-93) An ultra- elegant, pure and airy combination is composed by notes of pear, apple, mineral reduction and floral nuances. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the refined medium weight flavors that exude noticeable minerality on the persistent, balanced and delicious saline-inflected finish. Lovely stuff and worth considering.

(91-93) The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre comes from two hectares of vines split over three types of terroir. It has a crisp, fruits de mer-scented bouquet with plenty of dew-speckled Granny Smith apples. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, saline in the mouth and fine weight toward the finish, with plenty of persistence. This has great potential and could turn out to be one of William Fevre's best premier crus this year. Excellent. - Neal Martin

A more steely and stony edge to this terroir. There's also a minerally thread to the nose and palate. The fruits are in the citrusy-lime and grapefruit zone. A Very compressed, sleek and chiseled structure. Acid-fueled finish. Drink or hold.
