Sourced in the Goldert Grand Cru but marketed as 2016 Gewurztraminer "Roche Calcaire" (L 17G) because Olivier feared missing the balance he likes to have in a grand cru, this is a fascinating, highly elegant and refined Gewurzt from the limestone soils of the Goldert. The fruit is precise and perfectly ripe, with no botrytis at all but lots of salt and mineral tension. This undercover grand cru is clear, fresh and spicy on the super precise and mineral nose. Except for German Rieslings, I have rarely had a wine whose 77.4 grams are listed like that. This is a highly sensual, finessed and piquant Goldert that doesn't fit the expectations of a late-harvest (Vendange Tardive), but with 10.8% alcohol, this is one of the most delicate and feminine Gewurtz examples I can remember. It is a great wine with salt, grip and huge aging potential. - SR
