This 2016 Barossa Valley Shiraz is midnight black in colour, with aromas in which lushly ripe blackberry and plum meet earth, sweet dust, tar and a hint of black treacle. This is a splendidly mouthfilling wine on the palate: earthy, rich, broad... even beefy behind that mountain of blackberry and plum. There are comfortingly soft tannins, and the acidity is very finely judged, subtle and unassertive, lifting but without dominating or throwing the wine out of balance. Wholly satisfying, as well as pure and true. DRINK 2018-2030
