The 2016 Barbaresco Rombone is a dark and powerful yet transparent wine with notes of incense, macerated black cherry, plum, lavender, spice, leather, licorice, sage and menthol. Powerful, deep and super expressive, it shows tremendous depth, character and nuance as well as all of the power that is typical of this Treiso site. I can't wait to see where this bottling goes in future vintages. Medium in body but also quite tannic and structured, the 2016 needs a few years in bottle to start becoming approachable. -- Antonio Galloni

After a family split, this property was founded in 2006 in La Morra, but as well as Barolo it also produces this single-vineyard Barbaresco from Treiso, vinified and aged traditionally. The nose is ripe but still reticent, with raspberry and redcurrant aromas. The attack is fresh but the underlying tannins soon become apparent, though they are fine-grained. Good acidity keeps the palate lively and persistent. This is harmonious, balanced and long. Drinking Window 2020 - 2035
