Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, July 2019

Fontodi's 2016 Flaccianello della Pieve is a masterpiece. This review represents a composite of notes from two separate tasting sessions, one at the winery and a second bottle tasted repeatedly over the course of 24 hours...

Wine Spectator, October 2019

Ripe, with mulberry, plum, black cherry, mineral and spice flavors, this red is both lush and firmly structured. Complex, well-defined and persistent, courtesy of the racy acidity. Though balanced, this needs a few years...

jamessuckling.com, April 2019

Dark cherries, blackcurrants, brambleberries, eucalyptus, vanilla, tar, sandalwood and dried violets are the calling cards on the nose. This is certainly a very refined and delicate Flaccianello, that weaves its way...

Wine Enthusiast, July 2020

Made entirely with Sangiovese, this offers aromas of wild berry, new leather, exotic spice and eucalyptus. Full bodied and enveloping, the firm palate doles out mature Marasca cherry, prune, licorice and tobacco alongside...

Fontodi is a certified-organic estate in Tuscany that has belonged to the Manetti family since 1968. The property extends over 130 hectares, 70 planted with vines. The estate’s guiding principle is respect of nature and sustainability letting them produce wines that are better, purer, and a truer expression of the grape and the territory.

Flaccianello della Pieve is 100% Sangiovese from a selection of the best vineyards in the Colli Toscania Centrale IGT region. At the modern, gravity-fed winery, the juice ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for at least 3 weeks. The wine ages in Troncais and Allier (French) oak barrels for 24 months.
