jebdunnuck.com, August 2018

Bottled end of February/early in March, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Chaupin is incredible stuff, and while I suspect it’s the best vintage to date, it’s going to be great comparing it to bottles of the 2005, 2007...

Wine Enthusiast, December 2019

Freshness and hints of violet, smoke and earth elevate this full-bodied, plump yet pristine Grenache. Blackberry and cherry flavors are ripe and mouthwatering, edged by sunny acidity and a thrilling crush of minerals. The...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, September 2018

Smoky, fleshy and flashy, the wine is filled with layers of polished, perfectly, ripe, juicy sweet, fresh, vibrant, peppery plums and cherries. Full bodied, lush and rich, this is just great now and is only going to get...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, September 2018

The terrific 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin has lived up to my expectations from last year's visit. It's 100% Grenache, includes some parcels planted back in 1912, and half was vinified with stems. From sandy...

This is a profound expression of grenache with brambly, red fruit wrapped in wild herbs and flowers. Fresh, yet deeply ripe and expressive. The really succulent, deep and fresh tannins are a feature. Power with elegance!...

Wine Spectator, October 2018

Delightful plum, raspberry and blackberry compote flavors form the core, with racy, graphite-edged structure running underneath. Dark anise and tobacco notes check in throughout. The long finish lets the fruit linger...

Domaine de la Janasse, in the Southern Rhone, was founded in 1967 by Aime Sabon. Having returned from military service, he took over management of the family vineyards and formed an estate label, named after the family farm in the locality of “La Janasse”. A cellar was built in 1973 and new plots were acquired, growing the total holdings from 15 hectares to more than 90 today.

In 1991, after earning diplomas in viticulture, oenology and marketing, Aime’s son Christophe Sabon was given the keys to the cellar. His sister Isabelle joined the team in 2001.

La Janasse grows all 13 permissible grapes in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation to give complexity and depth to their different wines. They produce 3 red and 2 white Chateauneuf du Pape wines, red, white and rose Cotes-du-Rhone, and a number of IGP wines.
