The 2016 Clos de la Roche from Maison Jadot was also showing very well indeed in late February. The bouquet is pure, elegant and very deep, offering up scents of red and black cherries, venison, woodsmoke, coffee, a complex base of soil and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nascently complex, with a sappy core of fruit, excellent soil signature, fine-grained tannins and a very, very long, very pure and promising finish. Impressive.
