On the palate, the sweet spice notes wrap around a core of fruit detail, while the dusty tannins line the long, bracing, mineral-infused aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2045. — B.S. collapse

The palate is medium-bodied with sappy ripe tannins, well-judged acidity, smooth in texture, but you might argue, missing the mineral tension on the finish compared to others. It is a very competent Clos Saint-Jacques albeit not the most memorable. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. -- Neal Martin collapse

On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep, multidimensional core, rich structuring tannins and bright acids, concluding with a notably long and expansive finish. While there is considerable upside here for the patient, this will demand significant bottle age. While the 2015 rendition is more flamboyant, the 2016 may well rival it in ultimate quality. - William Kelley collapse

The aromatic constellation is a mix of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, dark chocolate, grilled meats, mustard seed, cedar and a stunning base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, long and very refined out of the blocks, with a rock solid core, suave, ripe tannins and outstanding grip and length on the complex and beautifully balanced finish. A great Clos St. Jacques in the making. collapse

The rich, dense and sappy broad-shouldered yet refined flavors possess a suave and polished mouth feel, all wrapped in a stony and hugely long finish. This excellent effort is markedly firm but very well-balanced and should age effortlessly for years to come. collapse

On the palate the wine is full-bodied and deep at the core, its fine-grained chassis of rich tannins nicely cloaked in cool fruit. Serious and complete, this should develop very well in the cellar.
