Aeration and time supplants initially earthy smoky notes on the nose with fresh apple, pear and hazelnut. The palate is surprisingly forward and fruity showcasing pristine piercing tangerine and peach flavors. It's a dazzling, punchy kabinett that finishes on a delicately honeyed note.

The 2016 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett has a pretty reductive but clear and flinty nose with ripe rockmelon (cantaloupe) flavors. On the palate, this is a very mineral and piquant but also lush Kabinett with ripe stone fruit aromas and 50+ grams of residual sugar that are superbly countered by salty-mineral and refreshing fruit flavors. This is a delicious Riesling—or will be in 5 to 10 years. Tasted in March 2018. - Stephan Reinhardt
