Bright violet and red-cherry aromas lead to a very succulent and plush palate that has attractively fine and firm tannins, carrying fresh red-cherry and blackberry flavors. Fresh fruit expands handsomely on the finish. Drink or hold.

Moving to the reds, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Dollarhide Estate Vineyard is all varietal and spent 18 months in 48% new French oak. It offers lots of smoky blue fruits, scrub brush, and damp earth notes, an inky purple color, medium to full body, a big kick of gravelly minerality, and a great finish. Coming from the oldest vines on the estate, it’s a seriously good Napa Cabernet that will benefit from a year or three of bottle age and cruise for two decades.
