The 2016 Westhofener Kirchspiel Riesling is a lean and racy classic with a very stony soul and impressive length. Although it fails to really attract me to drink it at this young age, I like the Kirchspiel for its complexity, purity, freshness and mineral tension. For the moment this is no wine for hedonists but rather for monks who believe there will be eternal light one day. There certainly will be. Californian Chardonnay lovers: hands off!- SR
