From volcanic soils and a very steep vineyard with vines that are over 70 years of age and old genetics, the 2016 Nahe Riesling Stromberg "GG" opens with a super clear, pure, fresh and flinty/smoky bouquet with beautifully stony and coolish/herbal aromas. This is fascinating in its precision and coolish expression. On the palate, this is a dense and concentrated but finessed, elegant, highly mineral and well-structured Riesling with intense juicy fruit and gorgeous persistence. Salty, firm and expressive, this is another great Riesling from Tim Fröhlich. Tasted December 2017.- SR

Abundant layers of smoke, earth and slate meld into delicate lime and green apple. It's a fleshy full-bodied dry wine yet invigorated by racy streaks of acidity and a lean steely finish. Notes of chalky mineral and lemon pith linger on the palate. Tasted in early 2018, it's still taut and closed. Hold till 2021 but enjoy over the next few decades.
