This is quite marked by its two-thirds whole clusters, with notes of peat and green malt, but this definitely adds another layer of complexity to what is a fine, sappy, focussed premier cru bottling. (Drink between 2025-2030)

Lovely on the palate too. Etienne says ethereal and I can see that. Don’t expect mega-concentration but it is just a lovely example of elegant Volnay. Tasted: November 2018.

The lacy, refined and lilting flavors dance across the palate though the balanced finish tightens up sufficiently to signal that even as graceful as it is, it's still going to require 10 to 12 years to arrive at its peak. It has quite an expressive and open bouquet with kirsch, wild strawberry and orange blossom aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy in the mouth, quite caressing but with good depth, a mixture of red and black fruit towards the lightly spiced finish. Perhaps one of the earlier drinking Volnays. This is very well crafted. -- Neal Martin
