(WA 91-94 points) Robert owns four hectares in Cornas, divided into many small parcels along the slope. My projection for his 2017 Cornas is based on tasting a few components from barrel, which expressed varying elements of crushed stone, Christmas spices, violets and cassis. Licorice, normally a sign of super ripe Syrah, is also in evidence. It should turn out to be a medium to full-bodied wine, with a rich, velvety texture and plenty of concentration. - Joe Czerwinski

The base 2017 Cornas is classic and a great introduction into the wines of the domaine. Black raspberries, cassis, toasted spice, incense, smoke game, and plenty of minerality all flow to a full-bodied Cornas that has silky tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. You certainly wouldn't be disappointed with a case of this in the cellar.

Opaque ruby. Mineral- and spice-accented aromas of dark berries, cracked pepper and licorice, along with a hint of olive and building smokiness. Juicy and broad in the mouth, showing very good depth as well as energy to the bitter cherry, blackberry and floral pastille flavors. Supple tannins build on the finish, which shows smoky mineral cut and strong, spice-driven persistence. -- Josh Raynolds
