The 2017 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, bursting from the glass with a deep bouquet of cassis, plums and berries, complemented by hints of smoked meats, warm spices and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, velvety and multidimensional, it's layered, concentrated and enveloping, its rich structuring tannins cloaked in an ample core of fruit, concluding with a long and sapid finish.- WK

The 2018 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is very well defined on the nose, which features detailed raspberry, dark cherry and crushed stone aromas; subtle rose petal scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fresh and vibrant on the entry. Apricot and marmalade notes appear toward the finish. It does cut away a little swiftly on the aftertaste and as such, like the Griottes-Chambertin, it does not quite match my expectations from barrel. -- Neal Martin
