The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a clever reduction on the finely delineated nose; the aromatics indicate that this will need time. The lightly spiced palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, leading to a cohesive and poised finish. I appreciate the concentration and depth of this Corton-Charlemagne, and it should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. -- Neal Martin

A touch of post-bottling sulfur dominates the fruit at present but it doesn't affect the palate impression of the sleek, intense and muscular middle weight plus flavors that are blessed with good levels of sappy dry extract, all wrapped in a bitter lemon and mineral-inflected finish. This tension-filled effort is sufficiently forward to be approachable after only 3 to 4 years yet it should reward up to a decade of cellaring.
