On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with excellent depth at the core, suave structuring tannins and a long finish. This is a beautifully complete Clos des Mouches that numbers among the high points of Drouhin's 2017 collection.- WK

In this wine, an initial flash of ripe, black cherry blows off to reveal a gentle note of vanilla. The palate comes in with unexpected freshness. A bright body showcases red rather than black cherry, supported by filigreed tannins and a hint of rounded smokiness that recalls a cured meat. Revealing a settled and deep ruby colour, the 2017 is nicely transitioning into subtle tertiary flavours, combining the vintage’s fruit freshness of raspberry and strawberry with gentle notes of forest floor and white pepper. Véronique describes the 2017 as 'gourmand', meaning a wine that is immediately pleasing and already approachable, though it can easily keep for further cellaring.
