The 2017 Chambolle Premier Cru chez Drouhin was still in cask in November and showing lovely potential. The bouquet is deep and classy, wafting from the glass in a nicely sappy blend of cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, chalky soil tones, gamebird, a touch of mustard seed and a lovely base of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and elegant, with a good, solid core, lovely shape and bounce, moderate tannins and fine length and grip on the complex and refined finish.
