It's one of the richer, sexier wines in the lineup, which is certainly what this vintage delivers in spades. Full-bodied and concentrated, with a beautiful mid-palate, it's going to evolve positively for 2-4 years and drink brilliantly for 20 years or more. This is an incredibly fine, elegant version of this wine.

It has a highly individual aromatic profile, very dark and brooding. The full-bodied palate features black fruits with a lovely sense of purity and line. There's real weight and presence without heaviness, and wonderful harmony and balance. A highly polished wine with a slight sweetness to the fruit and a very long finish. The best Quartz in some time from Clos du Caillou - real depths to explore here despite the polish. Spice-accented raspberry and cherry scents are complicated by hints of incense, pungent flowers and smoky minerals. Sweet and seamless in texture, offering deep-pitched red and dark berry liqueur, fruitcake and candied lavender flavors that become more lively as the wine stretches out. Concentrated but vibrant in style, delivering solid finishing thrust on the floral-driven finish, which shows sharp delineation and strong persistence. -- Josh Raynolds
