Erste Lage" is a lush and elegant, well-balanced, juicy, round and creamy-textured Riesling with fine salinity on the finish. This has a good and textured mouthfeel and is less deep compared to the discreet Haardter wines. Wonderfully salty, with more fruit and power on the finish. Tasted in Haardt, December 2019.- SR

Thankfully, there is an abundance of sheer citric juiciness. The penetratingly persistent, invigoratingly prickly finish is correspondingly pithy – introducing smoky-stony notes reminiscent of the corresponding Haardter – but also consummately refreshing. -- David Schildknecht
