From a Buntsandstein terroir with a calcareous vein, the 2017 Riesling Herrenletten "VDP. Erste Lage" is deep, intense and ripe on the elegant and spicy nose that pairs ripe fruit with crushed stone aromas. Full-bodied, ripe and lush on the palate, this is a generous, dry and textured Riesling with fine tannins on the salty finish. The wine is less pure and salty than the Bürgergarten but more sensual, if you want something between Bürgergarten and Mandelgarten. Tasted in Haardt, December 2019.- SR
