This is very rich and dense with layer after layer of fruit – quince, lemons and baked pears. Full body. Hints of phenolic structure. This is a dead ringer for top white Bordeaux, such as Château Smith Haut Lafitte. Crunchy acidity. A blend of 90 per cent sauvignon blanc and 10 per cent semillon. Enjoyable now, but better in 2020.

Starting with the 2017 Sauvignon Blanc L'Apres-Midi, this Bordeaux Blanc style effort has medium-bodied richness as well as tight, reductive notes of tart citrus, salty sea breeze, honeyed lime, and exotic flowers. It’s also beautiful aromatically on the palate and will benefit from a short decant if drinking any time soon. I’d imagine it will benefit from a year or two in bottle and keep for over a decade.

A blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon (30% Musque clone) 100% barrel fermented with 10% new oak, the 2017 Sauvignon Blanc l'Apres Midi gives wonderfully perfumed notes of honeyed apricots, guava and passion fruit with touches of lime blossoms and lemongrass plus a waft of wild thyme. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling exotic fruit with seamless freshness and a good long finish. 2,160 cases produced. -LPB

Mandarin orange, peach and lemon curd flavors seem subdued at first in this white, but then gain momentum and complexity as they crescendo on the finish, showing off toasty herb, lanolin and fresh lemongrass notes, with a fresh thread of acidity weaving in and out. Drink now. 2,199 cases made. — MW
