Clear pale colour. This has an attractive fresh appeal, not the seduction of Charmes but more an intellectual pleasure. On the palate this is firmer and stricter than the Charmes but with a fine sense of detail. A leaner, steelier framework, with good natural acidity. There is a fine body of fruit here throughout. Thrilling precision here and excellent length.

A vaguely exotic and beautifully airy and elegant nose timidly offers up overtly floral aromas of essence of spiced pear and a whiff of ginger tea. There is very good mid-palate density to the impressively, indeed almost painfully, intense and mineral-driven flavors that possess a stunningly attractive mouthfeel, all wrapped in a balanced, long and tightly wound finale. This is terrific and worth your interest.

The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru feels a little more muted than its peers, maybe just lacks the same degree of amplitude. The palate is balanced with good extraction. Slightly honeyed in style, with plenty of substance, it does not quite deliver the tension and mineralité of its peers. Perhaps one of the earlier drinking Genevrières.
