Peach is edged with a note of tangerine on the subtle nose. The citrus lift continues on the generous palate where notions of candied orange peel come in. Zestiness tingles aromatically and shimmers with notions of Mandarin orange and tarter tangerine. All these flavors seem to emanate from an absolutely streamlined vein of concentrated, ripe citrus freshness. This is what lends drive and backbone, energy and vividness. The 2018 Ried Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd is clear, ripe and elegant on the nose, with ripe and lush apricot, mango and very fine flinty aromas. On the palate, this is a ripe, round and charming Riesling with a full body, rich extract and mouth-filling palate. More compote than fresh and coolish fruit aromas here.
