Stains the palate with sweet red/blue fruit, lavender and spicecake flavors that deepen and spread out slowly on the back half. The 2018 Brouilly Cuvée Vieilles Vignes displays aromas of cherries, red berries, candied peel and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that leads with a satiny attack, quickly segueing into a firmer, more structured mid-palate and finish that's quite unlike Dutraive's wines from Fleurie, though it shares their charm and drinkability in its more burly, muscular register.- WK
