This is enjoyable, very Pomerol with a nice lift, though less structured than some in the Moueix line up. It has strong liquorice flavours, with dark chocolate and grilled rosemary – it’s gourmet, but with restraint and juice though the dark cassis and blackberry fruits. Another wine where you feel there is an accessibility relatively young without sacrificing the ageing ability. (90-92) Spicy oak, crème de cassis, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2018 Château Plince, a medium-bodied, elegant, nicely textured Pomerol that has fine tannins and considerable charm. It should drink well for 10-12 years. The blend is 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc, all from a 21-acre parcel of darker, compact, iron-laced soils.

Discrete notes of flowers, red pit fruits and earth create the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a gentle touch of oak that rides along with the sweet, ripe, red cherries in the finish. This is much better in bottle than it showed in barrel.
