The 2018 Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir has alluring aromas of woodsmoke, Earl Grey tea leaves and wild berries plus hints of dried orange peel and earth. The medium-bodied palate is seamless and refreshing with surprising depth of fruit, and it has loads of perfumed layers on the long finish. - Erin Brooks

Saturated garnet. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes blackberry, cherry cola, dark chocolate, baking spices and pungent flowers, along with a hint of smoked meat. Gently chewy and well-concentrated, offering bitter cherry, black raspberry and licorice flavors that turn livelier as the wine opens up. Finishes long and smoky, with resonating florality, youthfully firming tannins and lingering cherry and dark berry notes. -- Josh Raynolds

The vineyard for which the winery was named dates back to the early 1980s and was often the featured reserve in Sineann's Pinot portfolio. Now owned by Maison Louis Jadot, it's turned a style corner, and the wines are dark, earthy, tannic and brooding. Stiff and spicy beetroot, cranberry and black cherry flavors hold down the center, and there is concentrated power coiled there, which may need considerable time to unwind.
