The estate is noted for white wine, and this latest release lives up to the reputation. This textured, mainly Sauvignon Blanc wine has tight acidity set against wood aging and ripe citrus and white-fruit flavors. Drink the wine from 2024. ROGER VOSS

Apricot, pear and apple on the nose with a soft lime tang. Great persistence and energy, fruit has been well controlled and this delivers a round but fresh and lively glass of wine with subtle minerality on show too. Crunchy apple, candied lemon, some pineapple bitterness and a touch of marmalade or orange rind. Quie a tense, frank and linear style with definition and precision. Excellent winemaking. One of the great classics of Bordeaux dry whites, demonstrating its ability to consistently deliver polish and impact while retaining classic white Bordeaux minerality and freshness. There are touches of freshly cut grass on the attack, variety typicity although there is also a good amount of Sémillon in the blend adding structure and richness. The texture opens and widens through the mid palate, and this is a wine with a deft touch and plenty of juice on the finish. Andréa Perrin, son of co-owner Eric Perrin, joined the team as the château’s cellar master in January 2019. 25% new oak (with ageing taking place in a variety of barrels and wooden vats from 225h to 50hl).

The 2019 Carbonnieux Blanc has a lovely nose, nicely focused and understated at first, but there is more mineralité compared to its peers, tensile and focused. The palate is well-balanced with grapefruit and wild peach, slightly oily in texture with very expressive Sémillon towards the finish. Impressive. The 2019 Château Carbonnieux Blanc is another solid white in the vintage. Subtle lime, chalky mineral, and some minty, floral notes define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied, lightly textured, and balanced, with bright acidity and a clean, lengthy finish.

The 2019 Carbonnieux Blanc has turned out very nicely, offering up aromas of citrus oil, pear, fresh herbs, clear honey and crisp stone fruit, followed by a medium-bodied, elegantly satiny and incisive palate that's bright and precise, concluding with a saline finish. Bottled under Diam, this is already showing well in a tangy, Sauvignon-driven style. - William Kelley

Has a nice chiseled feel, featuring sea salt, white asparagus and gooseberry notes, with a flash of oyster shell on the finish. This should open up and broaden out with brief cellaring. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2024. 10,333 cases made. — JM
