Generous ripeness with plenty of candied-orange character give this a lot of upfront appeal. Unashamedly full body and broad shoulders, but this also has lively acidity that balances all that very well, giving it quite some drive at the bold finish. Drink or hold.

(91-94 points) Full yellow with a light green tint. Quite a sunny fruit on the nose, saffron suggests Jérôme. This version has kept enough flesh, with a saline touch to the acidity. Red soil at the Folatières side. Very interesting, I can see some yellow plums and I like the saffron idea. Otherwise, this is on the solid side for Puligny (not unique this year) rather than floral.

(92 - 94 points) The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain is showing very nicely, offering up aromas of citrus oil, pear and fresh apricot, complemented by hints of pastry cream and warm bread. Medium to full-bodied, bright and fleshy, with lively acids and an ample core of fruit, it concludes with a precise, mineral finish.- WK

From just over 1ha of mostly old vines at the top of the slope that Faiveley has owned since 2014. The grapes are fermented in cask (half new) to give a wine with ripe apple and spice notes on the nose, then a rich texture that is still well balanced by a fresh, lemony acidity. Marvellously balanced, with good concentration and length.
