(91-93 points) The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas displays a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, touches of brown spice and espresso emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with granular tannins, a fine bead of acidity and a dash of white pepper and clove toward the finish. I like the focus and harmony of this Gevrey, and it should age well after 4-5 years in bottle to absorb the new wood. • By Neal Martin on October 2020

Medium to deep purple. This is a lighter terroir allowing earlier access to the fruit than some. More floral aspects. This is evenly balanced across the palate, with a good layer of deep red fruit on top of the limestone. Very good for a village Clos Prieur! Long and fulfilling.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet berries and cherries mingled with warm spices, licorice and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy, with powdery tannins and an elegantly muscular profile, it shows considerable promise for the cellar.- WK
