The grapes were lightly crushed and fermented using both concrete and new casks to deliver this impressive wine of ripe pear and apricot fruit with a suggestion of minerals and fresh white flowers. On the palate, there is lovely density, pleasant freshness and an ageable finish. This parcel is near the winery’s base in Escolles on the plateau that overlooks the entire valley; the flinty calcareous soil of the mostly-flat vineyard was planted in the mid-1960s.
