Moving to the Pinot Noirs, the 2019 Pinot Noir DuMOL Estate Vineyard reveals a deep ruby hue to go with classic notes of ripe black cherries, sappy underbrush, sassafras, and spring flowers. Straight-up gorgeous on the palate as well, it's medium to full-bodied and has a solid spine of acidity, wonderful depth of fruit, and a great, great finish. It has plenty of up-front appeal yet should cruise for a decade in cold cellars, if not longer.

An aromatic nose of red berries, fresh herbs and roses. Hibiscus, too. Medium-bodied with fine, creamy tannins. Stony-mineral character colors the red fruit. Well balanced with impressive length and nuance. Bright acidity. Tasting well now, but could use another year or more. Best from 2023.

Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard has alluring, broody scents of black cherries, licorice, mushrooms and lavender, with loads of spicy accents in the undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate is silky and fresh, its layered fruits still coiled at this stage, and it has a long, spicy finish. Give it another 2-3 years in bottle to unfold. - Erin Brooks

The 2019 Pinot Noir DuMOL Estate Vineyard is a serious Russian River Pinot that balances fruit intensity with structure. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2019 for at least a few years, as the tannins are pretty imposing at this stage. Blue/purplish fruit, crushed rocks, lavender and licorice build as this decidedly brooding Pinot shows off its considerable brawn. -- Antonio Galloni
