For almost two centuries, the Jaboulet family has shared a common passion for the Rhone Valley, its history, its terroir, its exceptional people and wines.

In 1834, Antoine Jaboulet started working the land on the hills of Hermitage. Through his hard work and passion, he was able to produce a wine of exceptional quality. The business was passed on to his sons Henri and Paul, with the latter later giving his name to the company.

Since then, the generations have continued to succeed one another until in January 2006, the Frey family, longstanding winemakers in Champagne and owners of Chateau La Lagune in Bordeaux, acquired Maison Paul Jaboulet Aine thus adding to its portfolio of prestigious names.

The company’s hundred or so hectares of vineyards are tended with the greatest possible care. The wide diversity of terroirs and the influence of micro-climates favor the production of Syrah, the principal variety and the sole red grape, while Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier are used for the white wines.

Jaboulet wines represent generations of hard work and a passion for excellence and these values are adhered to by an unswerving commitment to improving vineyards, and through strategic acquisitions and work in the cellars, while respecting the environment at the same time.

The 2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage Chevalier de Sterimberg is a white wine that hails from the renowned Rhone region in France. Crafted from the Marsanne varietal, this wine showcases the true essence of the Northern Rhone terroir and the Hermitage appellation.

In the glass, this wine exhibits a bright and inviting hue, reminiscent of golden sunlight dancing on a summer's day. The aromatics are simply mesmerizing, with notes of jasmine, white peaches, apricots, and bananas intertwining effortlessly. As you delve deeper, crushed stones, almonds, and a hint of lemon pith add complexity and intrigue.

On the palate, the Chevalier de Sterimberg reveals itself as a medium- to full-bodied wine with a fresh and vibrant character. The palate is firm and mineral-driven, showcasing the unique terroir of the region. It is a true testament to the artistry of the winemaker and the quality of the organically grown grapes.

Renowned wine critic James Suckling awarded this vintage an impressive score of 94 points. He praises its aromatic profile and vibrant palate, suggesting that it would benefit from a few more years of cellaring before reaching its full potential.

Jeb Dunnuck also lauds this wine, awarding it a score of 91 points. He describes it as mid-weight and simple, with lively aromas and flavors of crushed citrus and white flowers. Dunnuck predicts that this well-made wine has the potential to age gracefully for 7-8 years or more.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded this wine a score of 90 points. The reviewer notes that it is a blend of 60% Marsanne and 40% Roussanne, aged exclusively in concrete. They highlight its slightly leesy aromas, along with hints of underripe pear, anise, and citrus. In conclusion, the 2020 Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage Chevalier de Sterimberg is a white wine that embodies the essence of the Rhone region. From its captivating aromatics to its vibrant palate, this wine is a true gem that showcases the finesse and elegance of the Marsanne varietal.
