Bruno Paillard makes one of the palest Brut Rosés out there, with just a touch of peachy blush to its hue. It is a comprised of a blend of primarily pinot noir, with a touch of chardonnay added and spends three years on the lees prior to disgorgement. The current release of the nonvintage Première Cuvée Brut Rosé is outstanding, wafting from the glass in a complex aromatic constellation of tangerine, blood orange, chalky soil tones, smoke, rye toast and a touch of stoniness. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with a great core of fruit, superb focus and balance, vibrant acids, elegant mousse and a long, complex and seamless finish. Fine, fine juice. 2014-2030+.

Light, bright red berries and lemon on the nose here; nectarine too. The palate is fine, even and has bright assertive, refreshing acid drive with good balance. Drink now. - Nick Stock

There's a fine thread of minerality underscoring the subtle notes of black raspberry red licorice and spiced plum in this elegant rosé. Refined texture and delicate acidity add to its grace and overall appeal. Disgorged... Pale in color, Paillard’s Rose is all about minerality, drive and tension. This mid-weight, gracious Champagne literally dances on the palate with its exceptional grace. It is neither too delicate nor overly rich, but just beautifully balanced and harmonious from start to finish. The Rose turns more vinous with time in the glass, but it is an extremely versatile wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with food. Disgorgement date: April 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. - Antonio Galloni

Spicy red berry and orange zest aromas are complicated by notes of vanilla and rose, with a hint of buttered toast gaining power in the glass. Fleshy raspberry and clementine flavors are braced by a zesty mineral quality, which adds back-end cut and lift. Finishes with gentle sweetness and very good mineral-driven persistence, leaving a sappy red berry note behind. -- Josh Raynolds
