This is a rosé of complexity and sophistication. It is essentially a finessed version of Special Cuvée and has all the brightness and nicely caught complexity of that Champagne with a layer of redder fruit aromas as well as a thread of raspberry and cherry on the palate; some blueberry too. Very long, even and thrilling on the finish. - Nick Stock

There’s a tinge of copper to this wine’s color and a hint of strawberry and jasmine in its scent, but there’s nothing obvious or overt about it. For a rosé with this much richness and roundness, it holds itself tight, a delicious, smoky evocation of limestone.

The new release of Bollinger’s non-vintage Brut Rosé (at least I assume this is a new cuvée, but there is no date of disgorgement on the back label) has the same cépages as last year: sixty-two percent pinot noir, twenty-four percent chardonnay and fourteen percent pinot meunier with five percent of the reds still wines. The wine is a lovely salmon color and was finished with a dosage of seven grams per liter. The bouquet is deep and classy, delivering scents of white cherries, rye bread, blood orange, a complex base of soil tones, gentle smokiness and a spicy topnote redolent of clove and cinnamon stick. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impressively light on its feet, with a lovely core, elegant mousse, impeccable balance and a long, crisp and focused finish. This is really a classy non-vintage Brut Rosé. 2016-2030+.

Beautifully pale in color this is serious rosé. Its rich and dry character and its red cherry and raspberry flavors are tied together by the finest acidity. Like most Bollinger Champagnes this needs food. - R.V.

The elegant and ultra-pure nose speaks of discreet yeast, cherry, raspberry and strawberry hints that are trimmed in an almost invisible touch of rose petal. The refinement displayed by the nose is reinforced by the palate impression of the delicious flavors that are underpinned by a firm but not aggressive mousse where the bead is quite fine, all wrapped in a moderately complex but solidly persistent finish. As it usually is this is quite an understated rosé that is drier than most without crossing the line into austerity. If one wanted to find fault it’s that this lacks just a touch of overall depth but the style is drop dead gorgeous. now+

Fresh red berries and tangerine on the spice- and smoke-accented nose and in the mouth. Sappy and expansive, offering juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of toasty lees. Tightens up on the long, mineral-driven finish, which leaves a chalky mineral nuance behind. -- Josh Raynolds
