92+ Given that the house of Camille Savès is based in the village of Bouzy, it is not surprising that Brut Rosé is one of the house specialties here, but what is surprising is that this cuvée has the highest percentage of chardonnay of any of the Savès bottlings, with fully sixty percent of the blend comprised of this white grape. The remainder is of course pinot noir, with twelve percent being still pinot from Bouzy. The new release is excellent, delivering a classy bouquet of strawberries, white cherries, warm bread, chalky soil tones, dried flowers and delicate spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very refined in personality, with an excellent core, elegant mousse and fine focus and grip on the long and beautifully balanced finish. This is delicious today, but it has the structure to age and I have had marvelous results tucking this bottling away in the cellar for five or six years of evolution in the bottle. 2016-2030.

As is sometimes the case with rosés the nose is more expressive than either of its two stablemates with a noticeably citrus-influenced combination of red cherry, raspberry and yeast. I very much like the sense of energy and punch to the utterly delicious and precise flavors where once again the supporting mousse is really very fine while the moderately dry finish is clean, persistent and complex. The NV Brut Rose offers up gorgeous notes of roses blood orange flowers and spices in a highly attractive polished style. There is superb minerality and vitality not to mention terrific overall harmony. This is one of the better versions of this wine I can recall. The NV Brut Rose is 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir (of which 12% is still) with 9 grams of dosage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
